Donald James Moyer Sr, 87 of Fort Myers, Florida passed away peacefully on August 11, 2017 surrounded by his children at Hope Hospice of Cape Coral, Florida. Don was born in Somerset, Pennsylvania on August 19, 1929 the son of the late Virgil and Vera Moyer. He graduated from Somerset Area High School before enlisting in the Air Force. He was married to Llora (DePetro) Moyer in 1952, they were together for 65 years until Llora's death on April 11,2017.  Don started working for the B &O Railroad in 1949. He worked as a conductor on the railroad until his retirement from what is now CSX. Don and Llora loved to travel. They especially loved taking spontaneous road trips in the car, sometimes traveling halfway across the country on little notice. Don loved the Steelers, rarely missing a game on television. He was a very social person and could strike up a conversation with anyone and anywhere. He loved his family wholeheartedly and was much loved in return. He was always one of his many nieces and nephews favorite uncles. Don is survived by his children Melissa Moyer Crouse of Fort Myers, Florida; Melanie Moyer Swan and her husband Raymond of Lansdale Pennsylvania; and Donald Moyer Jr and his wife Tonyia of Alva, Florida; 11 Grandchildren; 4 Great Grandchildren; Brothers Bill, Chuck, Terry; Sisters Janet, Shirley, and Linda. He is predeceased in death by his wife Llora, brother Wilbur, sisters Eleanor and Lois. A vigil for the deceased will be conducted at 3:45 p.m. Thursday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset where following friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. A funeral mass will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Somerset with Father Daniel J. O’Neill Celebrant. Committal will follow at 1 p.m. at Independence Cemetery in Washington County, Pennsylvania. www.haugerzeigler.
