Kenneth Irvin Burkett, 83, of Somerset, died March 28, 2016 at Meadowview Nursing Center, Berlin.  Born October 21, 1932, he is the son of Franklin Sylvester and Leora Mae (Koontz) Burkett Sr. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Merle, Melvin, Edward, and James Burkett and sisters: Marie Shaffer, Katherine Burkett, Shirley Bishop, and Dorothy Cline.  Survived by wife the former Ruthellene Ling to whom he was married 64 years; children: Jeffrey Burkett married to the former Glenda Rose of Greensboro, NC, Kenneth W. Burkett married to the former Pamela Meyers of Rockwood, Brian S. Burkett married to the former Lisa Harr and Darlene Firestone and husband Blaine all of Somerset; grandchildren: Jeffrey Burkett and wife Brittany, Matthew Burkett and wife Leah, Angie Weaver and husband Dan, Brad Burkett and wife Kristi, Eric Burkett and fiancee Sloan, Lacey and Allen Burkett, Steven Fickes and companion Tina, Travis Firestone and wife Crystal, Nicole and Jennifer Firestone; 14 great grandchildren; brother Franklin Burkett Jr. and wife Barbara of Clearwater FL, and sister Leora Peters of Virginia Beach.  Kenneth is a US Army Veteran of Korea, he worked until his retirement as owner of Burkett's Home Sales, for Firestone Heavy Equipment, and as a trust officer for Somerset Trust Company.  He was a member of Somerset Alliance Church where he was a part of the Keenagers, he enjoyed spending every Friday night with his family for "family night", traveling and cruising with family and friends, spending winters in Myrtle Beach, as well as hunting, fishing and golfing.  Friends received 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset, and one hour prior to the service which will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday with Reverend Scott Ream officiating.  Interment St. John's Cemetery.  Contributions may be made to Somerset Alliance Church 708 Stoystown Rd.
