Neil Robert Miller

Neil Robert Miller, 80, of Somerset died, August 3, 2016 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown.  Born July 25, 1936 in Somerset he is the son of Richard C. and Elizabeth (Myers) Miller.  Preceded in death by his parents, brother Clyde Miller and sisters Gladys Spangler and Dolores Eckman.  Surivived by his wife the former Ruby Wills to whom he was married 54 years and his brother Lester Miller and wife Ruth of Friedens.  Neil is a 1954 graduate of Somerset High School, he is a US Navy Korean War Veteran serving 3 1/2 years active duty and 4 1/2 years in the reserves.  He worked until his retirement as a tool and die maker for the former Coleman Company and Fleetwood Inc. with 34 years of service.  He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served as an usher, past treasurer of the builders Sunday School Class, he was past president of Somerset J.C. and member of the Junior Chamber International, past commander of Somerset American Legion Post 181, VFW Post 554, past president of FOE Aerie 1801, member of the Elks Lodge 1951 in Meyersdale, General Assembly of Moose Lodge 3000, US Navy Memorial in Washington DC, New Baltimore Sportsman's Club, Laurel Arts, Somerset Humane Society,  and the Berlin and Somerset Historical Society's.  Neil loved to cook, travel, feed the wildlife in his yard, and spend time with people.  Friends received 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. Monday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset where a a service will immediately follow at 2 p.m.  with Reverend Linda J. McElroy Thomas officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Somerset Vol. Fire Dept. Somerset Humane Society, Somerset Hospital Foundation, Berlin Historical Society of Trinity Lutheran Church.  Military rites accorded by the Somerset County Honor Guard. www.haugerzeigler.com
