Pauline Ferne Hoffman

March 14, 1917 ~ June 8, 2017 (age 100) 100 Years Old

Pauline Ferne Hoffman, 100, of Somerset, took her last Earthly breath on June 8, 2017 at The Patriot, Somerset, and woke up in her Savior's arms. Born March 14, 1917 in Brothersvalley Twp., she is the daughter of Frederick W. and Pearl I. (Beachley) Brant. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Clark Edward Hoffman who died January 31, 2000 ending a marriage of 58 years, step mother Bertha (Harbaugh) Brant, step-daughter Elaine Spangler, brothers Frederick H., Jabis, Rupple, Norwood, DeWeese, Woodrow, Raymond, and Lawrence, and sister Lucy Jean Brant.  Survived by children, Ernest P. Hoffman married to the former W. Jean Johnson, and Jeanne Nemanic and husband Larry, all of Somerset, grandchildren, Sue Smith and husband Paul, Brad A. Hoffman and wife Kim, Eric P. Hoffman and wife Kelly, Tara Nemanic Carney and husband Jeramy, Christina Nemanic Orndorff and husband Andrew, Ryan Nemanic, and LuAnn Spangler Beal and husband Chris, and step son-in-law Vernon Spangler, also 10 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandsons.  Pauline was a graduate of Berlin Brothersvalley High School. Her servant's heart touched many people as she served alongside her husband Clark at the Sipesville Church of the Brethren and Somerset Historical Society. She was also a member of WCTU, Women's Aglow, and the Sipesville Fire Department Auxiliary. Pauline achieved her goal to become a centenarian and enjoyed a celebration of her 100 years of life well-lived with 150 friends and family. She spent the past 2 years living at the Patriot where residents and staff describe her as a joyful, ornery delight who always brightens their day. One word that could describe Pauline is determined. And with that determination in her faith, she fought the good fight, she finished her course, and she kept the faith: so now she has received the crown of righteousness which the Lord gives to all who love His appearing. (II Timothy 4:7-8) Our thanks and gratitude goes out to the staff of The Patriot and ViaQuest Hospice who cared for her so lovingly. Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset, and one hour prior to the service at the church which will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Sipesville Church of the Brethren, Sipesville with Reverends Cecil Lohr and Blair Harshberger officiating.  Interment Sipesville Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sipesville Church of the Brethren, or Somerset Historical Society. www.haugerzeigler.com
