Ruth Ella Barkley, 90, of Somerset, died December 4, 2016 at The Patriot, Somerset. Born February 4, 1926 in Somerset Township, she is the daughter of William Lohr and Anna (Ream) Barkley.  Preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Eldon, Ralph, and Dwight Barkley and her sister Wilma F. Beckner.  Survived by her sister Reverend Jean Alnor of Nebraska and numerous nieces and nephews including, Sharon A. Ritenour and husband James of Somerset, Karen J. Lambert of Grandy, NC, Robert A. Beckner and wife Ruth of Somerset, William J. Beckner and wife Melanie of Johnstown and Rex A. Beckner and wife Rhonda of Somerset.  Ruth was a graduate of Somerset High School, also a graduate of Juniata College and the University of Pittsburgh, she worked as a high school teacher for Somerset Area Schools where she retired with over 45 years of service, she was also a lifetime member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church where she was very active.  Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset where a service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday with Reverend Dena M. Gable officiating.  Interment Lavansville Lutheran Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to Mt.
