Ruth Jane Shaffer, 83, of Somerset, PA, died August 5, 2017 at her home. Born December 1, 1933 in Jenner Twp. she is the daughter of Ferris Calvin and Edna Pearl (Shumaker) Ringer. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald Gene Shaffer who died September 21, 2014, grandson Eric Shaffer, brothers: William, Robert, Ferris, Karl, and Donald Ringer and sisters: Hazel Sipe, Evelyn Baker, Myrna Madjerich, Lois Kelly Peters, Mary Newton, and Dorothy Felton. Survived by her children: Joel Shaffer married to the former Sharon Shockey of Friedens, Mark Shaffer married to the former Debby Cameron of Somerset, Melissa Shaffer of Boston, Mass., and Annette Brick and husband Karl of Berlin, grandchildren: Jeremy Shaffer of Berlin, Amos Shaffer and wife Niki of Somerset, Sarah Fogle and husband Steve of Fairhope, Stephen Brick of Pittsburgh, Samuel Brick and wife Emily of Somerset, granddaughter-in-law Amanda Shaffer of Alexandria, VA, and great-grandchildren: Isaiah, Brennan, Eva, Eli, and Brooks. Ruth was a 1951 graduate of Somerset Township High School, she worked until her retirement as office manager for Shaffer Block and Concrete, and loved to play golf and travel with her husband and friends. She was also a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ.  Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday August 18th, at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset, a service will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Saturday August, 19th at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Somerset with Reverend J.
