Dolores Miller Obituary

Dolores Ruth Miller, 86, of Somerset, passed way peacefully from this life on June 8, 2018 at The Patriot. She was born December 27, 1931 in Somerset, and refused to open any of her birthday presents on Christmas. She is the daughter of Earl and Hazel Alice (Mull) Shaulis. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles Austin Miller who died September 9, 2010 and daughter-in-law MaryAnn Miller. She is survived by her sons, C. Michael Miller of Boswell, and Steven L. Miller of Somerset and granddaughter Emilee Miller and fiance Brody Vinisky of Somerset, brothers and sisters; E. Wayne Shaulis and wife Shirley of Berlin, Alice Rainey of Florida, Douglas A. Shaulis and wife Judy of Somerset, and Linda Rhodes and husband Robert Jr. of Friedens. Dolores was a graduate of Somerset High School. Among her most noteworthy accomplishments, she raised her sons to be strong, independent men and instilled in them the will to succeed by diligent pursuit of hard work. Dolores was know to many from her years at the Somerset Hello Shop which she managed from its opening in 1971 until her retirement in 1992. Before opening that store she was one of the original employees, and one of the union organizers at the former Coleman Company. Dolores was an avid bowler for more than 60 years and only gave it up when she was betrayed by her fingers that could no longer control the ball. Over the years she participated in numerous tournaments all over the United States and brought home boxes of trophies and awards. After her retirement she stayed active and engaged with sewing projects, gardening, and most importantly being a Grandmother not only to Emilee but also the children of her nieces and nephews. Friends received 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset, where a service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday with Reverend Will Foster officiating.
