Donald Edward Shaffer

Donald Edward Shaffer, 94, of Somerset, died September 9, 2019 at The Patriot. Born March 4, 1925 in Belltown, he is the son of Donald Eugene and Fern (Gardner) Shaffer. Preceded in death by his parents, wife the former Marie Maxine Burkett who died March 11, 2002, son Gary W. Shaffer and daughter Donna Lalley and her husband Kent, also sister Ruth "Sis" Merringer. Survived by his children: Ronald E. Shaffer of Tacoma, WA, and David E. Shaffer and wife Lillian of Somerset, grandchildren: Rhonda Kimmel and husband Doug of Nunn, CO, Vickie Shaulis and husband Gregory of Champion, Shelly Shaffer, Rodonna Shaffer and Ronald Shaffer II all of Tacoma, WA, Christina Fleegle and fiance Michael Stephens of Somerset, Jonathan Shaffer and wife Lori of Stoneville, SC, Rebecca Friedline and husband Paul of Friedens, Jessica Shaffer of Somerset, Katelyn Macik and husband Paul of Gibsonia, Matthew Shaffer of Somerset, Alexander Lalley of California, PA, and Janelle Lalley of Somerset, great-grandchildren: Melissa Claudell, Kelly Miller, Kimberly and Mary Kimmel, Zachary Shaulis, Hailey Coisman, Riley and Emily Kibbe, Ronald Shaffer III, Jacob Shaffer, Moxon and Skylynn Fleegle, Riley, Ella and Shyann Shaffer, also great-great-grandchildren: Duke, Ryder and Oakley. Don was US Marine Corps Veteran of WWII, he worked until his retirement as owner/operator of Somerset Mobile Home Sales, Roof Garden Trailer Court and Somerset Trailer Park, he was a member of the Somerset and Berlin Alliance Churches, and enjoyed hunting and spending time with his grandchildren. Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset and from 9-10 a.m. Friday at the Somerset Alliance Church, Somerset where a service will immediately follow at 10 a.m. with Reverend Donald Robson officiating.
