Ferne Mae Beers

Ferne Mae Beers, 102, of Ickesburg, PA, formerly of Marysville, PA, passed away Monday, February 25, 2019 at her home. Ferne was born in Listie, PA on December 23, 1916, a daughter of the late William Blaine and Vera Pearl (Trent) Stutzman. Ferne worked for a few years at the Marysville Twin Kiss and in the very early years at the Youth Center in Harrisburg. She was a graduate of Somerset High School, Class of 1937. She was a member of the former Zion Lutheran Church, Marysville, where she was very active in church functions, the Marysville-Rye Senior Citizens and worked BINGO at the Marysville Lions Carnival for many years. Ferne enjoyed crocheting, cooking, gardening and most of all she loved spending time with her family. She was the widow of Kenneth Kauffman Beers. Ferne is survived by two daughters, Debra D., wife of Jeff Dowell, of Lewisberry, Bonnie S., wife of Ridgely Arndt, of Ickesburg, her grandchildren: Joshua Robinson, of Camp Hill, Alisha Arndt, Eli Arndt, both of Ickesburg, great-grandchildren: Gauge Arndt, of Ickesburg and Evan Arndt, of Ickesburg. She was preceded in death by four brothers: Jacob, Clyde, Ray, Dwight Stutzman and five sisters: Alta Spangler, Mary Eicher, Erma Boyd, Autrice Sipe and Gazella Gross. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 2, 2019 in the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset, PA. A viewing will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon on Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Somerset Memorial Park, Somerset, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, 2595 Interstate Drive, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
