George Faidley Sr. Obituary

George Robert Faidley Sr., 95, of Somerset, died Sept. 22, 2018 at Somerset Hospital.  Born June 17, 1923 in Somerset, he is the son of Norman Bruce and Mary Grace (Sanner) Faidley.  Preceded in death by his parents, wife of 65 1/2 years the former Bessie Mardell Lyons who died April 1, 2006, son Ray Faidley, granddaughter Melissa Faidley, sisters: Mary Ann Faidley and Ruth Sheele, and brothers: Harry, Charles, Elmer, Ray and Norman.  Survived by his children: Shirley McDonald and husband William of North Carolina, George Faidley Jr. married to the former Sharon Landis of Berlin, David Faidley married to the former Donna Snyder of Friedens, Randy Faidley married to the former Judy Edmiston of Rockwood, and Larry Faidley married to the former Tracey Emerick of Somerset, grandchildren: Michael and Chris McDonald, George III, Amanda, David Jr., and Denise Faidley, Christina O'Connell, Lucinda Beggs, Lance and Landon Faidley, 7 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren, also special friend Irene Miller and army buddy Ambrose Brusatori and his wife Irma.  George is a US Army Veteran of WWII serving in the Phillipeans, he was a very hard worker and had many jobs that included being a milk truck driver, working for Shaffer Brothers, Lyons Service Station, PennDot, and in maintenance for Somerset Area Schools where he retired, following retirement he worked for the Daily American.  He was a patriotic man and was a member of VFW Post 554 and Milford United Methodist Church.  Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset and one hour prior to the service at the church which will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Milford United Methodist Church, Somerset with Pastors Doug Burns and David McCall officiating.  Interment Sipesville Cemetery.  Contributions may be made to Milford UMC 368 Bando Rd. Somerset, PA 15501. Military graveside rites accorded by the Somerset County Honor Guard.  www.haugerzeigler.com
