Helen Ruth (Carns) Blystone

Helen Ruth "Granny" Blystone, 95, of Berlin, died April 26, 2019 at Meadowview Nursing Center. Born December 6, 1923 in Greensburg, she is the daughter of Homer Clyde and Eva Edna (Gross) Carns. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Jonas Malcom Blystone who died June 13, 1997, grandsons: Ricky Lee Most and Roger Most Jr., sisters and brothers: Jean Smith, Grace L. Lape, and Glenn Carns, and step-brother Homer Carns. Survived by her children: Ruth Most and husband Roger of Berlin, Dwight R. Maule and friend Bonnie Gardner of Bedford, Fred E. Maule married to the former Jane Pettitt of Jenners, Nancy Shumaker and husband R. Wayne of Somerset, and Harry L. Blystone married to the former Kathy Gower of Rockwood, 14 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandsons. Helen was a 1943 graduate of Somerset High School, she worked until her retirement as a self employed housekeeper, she attended Three Seasons Community Church, she was a hard worker, and enjoyed gardening, entering goods in the Somerset County Fair, playing bingo, cards and board games, and loved giving people hugs. Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset, where a service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday with Pastor Bryan Karchner officiating.
