James Dennis Coughenour, 78, of Somerset, died December 28, 2017 at his home.  Born March 16, 1939 in Pocahontas, he is the son of Merle Randolph and Hilda Bertha (Knieriem) Coughenour.  Preceded in death by his parents, wife the former Janet Fern Snyder who died April 6, 2000, brother Merle Jr. and infant twin sisters Linda and Melinda.  Survived by his children: Timothy J. Coughenour of Gray, Jamye Dennise Coughernour and fiance Stephen P. Matolyak of Somerset, Chris R. Coughenour married to the former Cathy Kelemen, Scott H. Coughenour married to the former Paula Keyser all of Friedens; grandchildren: Nikki Mullen and husband Chad, Joshua Coughenour and wife Stacey all of Gray, Heather Fanale and husband Cory, Helen Coughenour and fiance Preston DeWitt all of Somerset and Katie Wass and husband Eric of Addison, great-grandchildren: Hannah, Eli, Tyler, Ava, Emma, Reed, Colton, Wyatt, and Jeremiah; also 3 brothers and 4 sisters, and his faithful companions his dogs Beni James and Jeri Dennis.  Jim was a graduate of Greenville Twp. he is a US Army Veteran, he worked until his retirement as co-owner/operator along with his wife of the former Jim's Truck Stop in Somerset, he was the glue that held his family together and enjoyed living life with his dogs.  Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset where a service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday with Reverend Benjamin Mandrick officiating.  Interment Somerset County Memorial Park.  Contributions may be made to Action for Animals 386 PA-217, Latrobe, PA 15650. www.haugerzeigler.com
