Mary Pero

Mary Pero, 89, of Somerset, died October 16, 2018 at The Patriot.  Born August 30, 1929 in Somerset, she is the daughter of Walter and Helen (Borek) Stanczyk Sr. Preceded in death by her parents, husband John Pero who died in 1963, brothers: John, James, and David Stanczyk, and sisters: Sophia Kenemore, Helen Culp, and Elizabeth "Liz" Stanczyk.  Survived by her brothers and sisters; Stanley Stanczyk of Somerset, Walter Stanczyk of Lima, OH, Ruth Ankeny of Fredricksburg, VA, Alice Mankie of New Alexandria, Daniel Stanczyk and wife Kay of York, and Esther Phillippi of Somerset.  Mary worked until her retirement as a seamstress for the former Somerset Sewing Factory.  She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and going to craft shows.  Mary was known as MeMe to those close to her, she was a loving sister, aunt, and friend, and was like a mother and grandmother to her many nieces and nephews; and she will be greatly missed.  Friends received 6-8 p.m. Thursday and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset, where a service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday with John Willbur, Jared Snyder, Margaret Long and Audrey Fuller officiating.  Interment Somerset County Memorial Park.  Contributions may be made to American Heart Assn.  www.haugerzeigler.com
