Pauline (Walker) Baker, 97, Somerset, died December 3, 2018 at her home. Born March 21, 1921, in Somerset, she is the daughter of Frank Roy and Lucy Rebecca (Ankeny) Walker. Preceded in death by parents, husband, Clarence E. Baker who died April 18, 1986, daughter, Judith Ann Baker; sisters, Jean Barron and Norma Fritz; and brother, Forrest Walker. Survived by children, Janice M. Baker of Indiana, PA ; and James A. Baker married to the former Kim J. Shipe of Somerset, grandsons; Charles Baker and wife Donna, Michael, and Andrew Baker, also great-granddaughters, Kimberly and Cheyenne. Pauline was a 1938 graduate of Somerset High School and a 1941graduate of the West Penn School of Nursing. She was a U.S. Army WWII Veteran serving in Africa and Italy in the Army Nurse Corp from 1942-1945 and was part of the Army Nurse Corps advance deployment to Northern Africa in 1942. Pauline was a longtime member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and volunteered at Siemons’ Lakeview Manor. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. Friends received 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset, where a service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday with Reverend Linda J. McElroy Thomas officiating. Interment Somerset County Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church 918 Tayman Ave. Somerset, PA 15501.
