Ralph W. Friedhofer, 84, Somerset, passed away April 12, 2018. He was born April 23, 1933 in Somerset. He was a 1951 graduate of Somerset High School. Ralph was the class president and organized 11 five-year class reunions and numerous mini reunions over the 60 years, and was thankful for the help of the reunion committee. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1955 and served in the US Navy from 1956-1957. He returned home and partnered with his father and brother, Carl, in the family business, Somerset Candy Company, which was founded by his father in 1930. Ralph and Carl purchased the company from their father in 1964 and ran it until they retired and sold the business in 1988. Ralph served on Somerset Borough Council for 15 years and the Somerset Borough Municipal Authority for 28 years. He was a past president of the Jaycees and honored to be a JCI Senator. He was a lifelong and very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Ralph was the son of Carl M. Sr. and Mary (Wadding) Friedhofer. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Sally (Roy) Friedhofer. He is survived by his son, Michael (Christine), nieces, Ann Friedhofer and Jan Friedhofer, brother-in-law, Robert (Patricia) Roy and sister-in-law, Shirley Roy, and their children. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2018, in the parlor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Somerset, and again from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Rev.
