Alex James, "Jim" Weir, 74, of Somerset, died May 8, 2025in Somerset surrounded by his loving family. Born May 10, 1950 in Johnstown he is the son of the late Alexander and Angelina Louise (Amistadi) Weir. Survived by his wife the former Kathy Lynn Reckner to whom he was married 52 years, children Adam Weir and wife Krissy of Johnstown, and Jami Weir and husband Michael Lynch of West Chester, grandchildren Madelynn, Cassidy, Eva, Sullivan, Ella, and Isaac, brother and sisters John Weir, Jane Mallory, Cindy Lambert,and Suzanne Gary. Jim was a graduate of Forbes High School, he was a US Army Veteran of Vietnam where he served as a military police officer. He worked until his retirement as a sales manager for J&J Truck Equipment with 34 years of service. Jim was a master carpenter, and was a loving husband, father, and Poppy to his grandchildren, he was known for his kind heart, his towering yet gentle presence and unwavering love and support for his family. Friends received 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset, where a service will be conducted at 10 a.,m Friday with Pastor Larry Smoose officiating.
