Alfred Walter Jones

Alfred Walter Jones, 99, of Somerset, died December 13, 2019 at The Patriot. Born February 27, 1920 in Johnstown he is the son of Philip Elijah and Celia Virginia (Campbell) Jones. Preceded in death by his parents, wife the former Frances Marie Goller who died April 28, 2015, daughter Glenda Barron, and brothers and sisters; Francis Jones, Mary Minerva Mallory, Harry and Homer Jones and Rose Rhoads. Survived by his daughter Nancy Miller and husband Barry of Somerset, grandsons; Travis Miller of Pittsburgh, and Justin Bittner and wife Abby of Somerset, great-grandchildren; Grant, Ella, and Anderson Bittner. Alfred was a US Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII, he worked until his retirement as an electrician for the IBEW Local #5. He was also a member of American Legion Post 181 and a lifetime member of the Daisytown Volunteer Fire Dept. The family would like to extend their appreciation for the wonderful care that the staff at The Patriot gave Alfred. Friends received 9-11 a.m. Monday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset, where a service will immediately follow at 11 a.m. with Reverend Lee R. Gable officiating.
