Arthur Eugene Baer, 94, of Salisbury formerly of Somerset, died September 18, 2024 at Meadow View Nursing Center. Born May 21, 1930 in Somerset, he is the son of Sylvester Franklin and Cora Catherine (Shaulis) Baer. Preceded in death by his parents, wife the former Betty Jane Shumaker who died April 14, 2015, brothers Kenneth E. and Howard Baer, and sisters Gladys F. Flickinger, Erma C. Burk, Verna Mae Hoffman, and twin sister Arlene Panasci. Survived by his son Roger E. Baer married to the former Althea R. Twigg of Salisbury, PA; grandchildren Heather A. Sekerak and husband Robert A. of Nanty Glo, PA, Brandon E. Baer and wife Ashley M. (Nicholes) of Somerset, and Ashley M. Saylor and husband Andrew K. of Versailles, KY, also seven great-grandchildren Angel, Faith, Tesla, Arabella, Lilly, Elina, and Ezra, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Arthur known by many as "Art" was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War, serving as a Corporal from March 1952-1954. He worked as a caster/mold maker for Briggs Industries of Somerset where he retired with 32 years of service. Arthur loved spending time with family and friends, stock car racing, working on projects with his son, traveling, and woodworking. He was a wonderful storyteller and provided his grandchildren with profound words of wisdom and love for all things Disney. Above all, Arthur was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who was admired and loved very much. Friends received 9-11 a.m. Monday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset, where a service will immediately follow at 11 a.m with Pastor Sam Coughenour officiating.
