Barbara Jean Barclay, 78, of Somerset, went to be with the Lord on February 4, 2025 at her home.

Born March 1, 1946 in Somerset, the daughter of Elsworth J. and Verna Mae (Baer) Evans.

Preceded in death by her biological parents; parents who raised her: Arthur Flickinger and Gladys Flickinger; step-father: Kenneth Hoffman; sisters: Connie Sanner and Lois Custer; brother: Jack Evans; and granddaughter: Barbara Jean Johnson.

Survived by her loving husband of 60 years, James A. Barclay; children: James E. Barclay and wife Lucy; Amy L. Knopsnyder and husband Brian; and Michael A. Barclay; grandchildren: Jacqueline Whipkey, Amanda Zimmerman, Elizabeth Faidley, Mark Johnson, Elliot Phoenix; 13 great grandchildren; and brothers: Ronald and Randy "Joe" Evans. Barbara was a 1964 graduate of Somerset High School.

She was a homemaker most of her life but also worked with IU8 and special needs children.

Barbara was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, New Centerville, where she served as superintendent of the youth group. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Barbara loved camping and listening to gospel hymns and music.

Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Somerset.

Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday at Messiah Lutheran Church, where funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Rev. Josh Spangler officiating. Private interment at Weller Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Messiah Lutheran Church, 144 Jubilee St., Rockwood, PA 15557.
