Bernice Iva Lape, 64 of Gray, PA, formerly of Kingwood, PA, passed away on September 8, 2025, at her home. She is the daughter of late Julius and Katie (Gary) Hoover. She is preceded in death by her husband Rick Lee Lape. She is survived by her children Brittaney Haburcsak (Brett Neupert), Scarlet Auble (Andrew), Abby Bohatch (Andrew), and John Haburcsak (Kelly). Grandmother to Antonio Fabrizio and Murray Auble (Scarlet), Leo and Lily Bohatch (Abby), Johnathan and Emalie Haburcsak (John). Siblings include Paul Hoover (Nancy), Bev White (Bud), Brenda Zimmerman (Gary) and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bernice devoted 22 years of her career to real estate with Howard Hanna, where she earned numerous awards and distinctions, including induction into the Million Dollar Sales Club, the Million Dollar Producer's Club, and the President's Club, among many other accolades. Beyond her professional success, Bernice's greatest joy was her family. She especially loved trips to the Outer Banks, where she loved collecting shells, watching sunsets, and surf fishing. Affectionately known as "Meme", she created treasured memories with her grandchildren through special "Meme Surprises" during her travels and late-night movies with snacks and laughter. She was also an avid gardener and skilled canner, finding joy and peace in the simple, meaningful rhythms of home life. Family and friends received 1-3 p.m. Sunday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Crematory, Somerset, where a service will immediately follow at 3 p.m. with James Hinton officiating.
