Betty Carlson Obituary

Betty L. Carlson, 88, of Somerset, died December 16, 2021 in Somerset. Born May 28, 1933 in Somerset, she is the daughter of Harold Franklin and Estella May (Harvey) Harkcom. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Bernard Russell Carlson Sr. who died September 10, 2014 grandson Timothy, brothers Kenneth, and Donald Harkcom and sisters Elsie Davis, and Catherine Kosnosky. Survived by her children; Carol Phillips and husband William, Carl Carlson married to the former Marsha Miller all of Somerset, Bernard R. Carlson Jr. married to the former Brenda Pugh of Boswell, Linda Meyers and husband Charles, Patricia Shaulis and husband Cary all of Somerset, and Kimberly Mitchell and husband Brian of Nanty-Glo, 13 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren, also brothers; Robert Harkcom and wife Romayne of Conway, NC, and Ronald Harkcom and wife Sandy of Gatesville, TX. Betty worked as a nurses aide for the Somerset State Hospital, and later for Somerset Hospital, she also worked for the Daily Times in Salisbury, MD. She loved gardening, traveling, shopping, and spending time with her family. Friends received 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset, where a service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday with Pastor Robert Kephart officiating.
