Betty May Obituary

Betty Romesburg May passed away in Monterey California on January 29, 2020 at the age of 96. She was born to Scott and Nellie Romesburg of Uniontown and later Kingwood. She was preceded in death by her parents, and in 2011 by her beloved husband Harry C. May, Lt. Col. USAF (Ret), brother Scott Romesburg and sisters, Garnet Glenn and Mildred Saunders . Betty will be deeply missed by her son Randy May and daughter-in-law Carol Greenstreet, both of Pacific Grove, California, and niece Sondra Bisignani of Pittsburgh. Betty graduated from the Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital Nursing School in Johnstown and achieved her childhood dream of becoming a registered nurse. She served in the Army Nurse Corps in WWII as an operating room nurse in Panama, and after the war continued her work at the Universities of Michigan and Chicago. Betty and Harry lived for many years on or near various military bases. While stationed in Japan, she savored the local culture and became proficient in traditional doll making and flower arranging. Subsequently the couple lived in Columbus, Ohio for 36 years before finally settling in Pacific Grove, where Betty spent 25 happy years living near Randy and Carol. Friends received 2-5 p.m. Friday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset where a service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday February 8, 2020 with Reverend James Monticue officiating. Interment Kingwood IOOF Cemetery. Military rites accorded by the Somerset County Honor Guard. www.haugerzeigler.
