Catharine Louise VanGilder

Catharine L. VanGilder, 87, of Berlin, died November 20, 2021 at her home. Born Febreuary 18, 1934 in Somerset, she is the daughter of Carl D. and Thelma (Barnhart) Foust. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald E. VanGilder to whom she was married 42 years, son Donald B. VanGilder, and great-granddaughter Alivia Jo VanGilder. Beloved mother of daughters; Karen Adamoski and husband Ed of Greensburg, Vicki Menhorn and husband Paul, and son David VanGilder married to the former Connie Shaffer all of Berlin, and daughter-in-law, Delores VanGilder of Berlin, grandchildren; Justin VanGilder and wife Jessica, Jason VanGilder and wife Erin, Joseph Adamoski, Jessica Harbaugh and husband Mike, Jenna Osselborn and husband Dale, and Ashley VanGilder, great-grandchildren; McCauley, Hartley, Ally, Alana, Lexi, Payton, Cole, Abigail, and Madison, also, sisters; Marie Reed of Virginia, Bernice Bridegum and husband Wayne of Maryland, and numerous nieces and nephews. Catharine was a 1952 graduate of Berlin High School, was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, as a dairy farmer's wife and mother she was lifelong dairy promoter. Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset, a service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Somerset, with Reverend Ruth Jensen officiating, Interment Somerset County Memorial Park.
