Catherine Poorbaugh Obituary

Catherine K. Poorbaugh, 86, of Somerset, died December 10, 2021 at UPMC Somerset Hospital. She was born January 25, 1935 in Pemiscot County, Missouri. She is preceded in death by her first husband Cloyd G. Berkebile and son Steven Ray Berkebile. Survived by her second husband of 54 years Richard K. Poorbaugh, two children; Patricia K. Mellen and husband Joseph of Columbia, SC, and Cloyd Guy Berkebile and wife Jodi of Indian Lake, PA, also numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She was a faithful member of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church in Somerset, and was an ardent supporter; additionally, she served and supported many civic organizations throughout Somerset and the state of Pennsylvania. Of Cathy's many accomplishments, she was founder and CEO of Berkebile Oil Co., which brought her tremendous joy and fulfillment. She was a small-town girl made good and with that good her benevolence has spread to all she knew, and she will be sadly missed. Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset, where a service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday with Reverend Michael Dunlap officiating. Interment Somerset County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Paul's Presbyterian Church 1845 N. Center Ave. Somerset, PA 15501 or Somerset Hospital Auxiliary 225 S.
