Dolores Ann Bender

D. Ann Bender, 89, of Somerset, died June 3, 2020 at UPMC Somerset Hospital. Born September 2, 1930 in Somerset, PA, she is the daughter of Kenneth P. and Mary Frances (Barnhart) Lohr. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard S. Bender who died March 7, 1993, son Dr. Edward M. Bender. She was a loving proud mother of her two sons and is survived by her son Dr. Jeffrey L. Bender of Somerset, daughter-in-law Joanne Bender of Johnstown, grandchildren; Adam Bender of Johnstown and Nicole Streets and husband Shane of Pittsburgh, brother James B. Lohr and wife Pat of Kentucky, and sisters-in-law Joanne Regenhardt and Barbara Koosed. Ann was a 1948 graduate of Somerset High School, she worked until her retirement as a supervisor for the Somerset County Public Welfare Office, she was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ of Somerset, she was a longtime volunteer for Meal's on Wheels, Salvation Army and was a tutor for Maple Ridge Elementary. A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Friday June 12, 2020 at Journey Church 220 Maple Ave. Woodvale, PA. Interment Somerset County Memorial Park.
