Dorothy Barnhart Obituary

Dorothy Louise Barnhart, 93, of Somerset, died December 7, 2019 at The Heritage at Siemon's. Born August 2, 1926 in Cumberland, MD, she is the daughter of William and Margaret (Rininger) Griffith. Preceded in death by her parents, husband William G. Barnhart Sr., sisters: Shirley Morin and Sara Saylor and daughter-in-law Wendy L. Barnhart, and an infant son Richard. Survived by her children; William G. "Pete" Barnhart of Somerset, John D. Barnhart married to the former Karen Buttermore of Scottdale, and Jane Hilligoss and husband John of Somerset, granddaughter Lori Barnhart of Somerset, brother William Griffith and wife Alice of Atlanta, GA, and numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy was a 1944 graduate of Somerset High School where she was valedictorian, she was also a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, she worked until her retirement for Somerset Hospital as a Registered Nurse with over 40 years of Service. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she had served on the Altar Guild and had been a greeter for the Kitchen Committee. Dorothy also had volunteered for Meal's On Wheel's and was a past board member of the Tam O'Shanter's. Friends received 10-11 a.m. Saturday December 14, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Somerset where a service will immediately follow at 11 a.m with Reverend Linda J. McElroy Thomas officiating. Interment Husband Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Somerset Fire Dept. 340 W. Union St. Somerset, PA 15501.
