Edgar Thomas Weakland

Edgar Thomas Weakland, 62, of Somerset, died March 12, 2022 at UPMC Somerset Hospital. Born July 7, 1959 in Cavite, Philippines, he is the son of the late James George and Mildred Viola (May) Weakland. Survived by his wife the former June Louise Sechrist to whom he was married 7 years, children: Laura Fortenberry and husband William of Carneys Point, NJ, Edgar T. Weakland Jr. of Williamstown, NJ, and Danielle "Dani" Long and husband Richard of Big Pine, WY, 7 grandchildren, and sisters and brothers: Linda Gelesh and husband Dennis, Carol Matecki and husband Richard, Nancy Neville and husband Robert, James Weakland Jr., Gary Weakland and wife Sharon, Roy Weakland and companion Benny Ricci, and Cathy McAfee and husband Patrick. Edgar was a US Army Veteran of Vietnam serving 8 years, he received dual masters degrees in Aeronautical Studies from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona, FL. He worked until his retirement as an aircraft mechanic for Boeing, he was a member of Somerset Alliance Church, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was very passionate about aviation. Friends received 3-7 p.m. Thursday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset, where a service will be conducted at 10 a.m,. Friday with Reverend Donald Robson officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Military rites accorded by the Somerset County Honor Guard.
