Edward Leroy "Mr. Ed" Staats, 82, of Longwood, FL, formerly of Somerset, died March 19, 2024 at Advent Health Hospital, FL. He is the son of Donald and Dorothy (Foust) Staats and Jim Lambert. Preceded in death by his parents, wife Sandy Staats, former wife Dorothy Miller, and two great-granddaughters. Survived by wife Janice Staats, sons,, Dan Staats (Vicki), Robby Staats (Wendy) all of FL, daughters, Lori Perina (George) of FL, Tammy Wargo (Matthew) of Texas, Kelly Haburcsak (John) of PA, step-sons, Scott Ballowe (Jamie) and Todd Ballowe (Jole), 15 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ed attended Shanksville High School, and was a US Army Veteran. He was also attended New Beginnings Outreach Center, Bethany United Methodist Church, and Neighborhood Alliance Church in Longwood, FL. He was employed as a truck driver for many trucking companies where he made lots of friends that referred to him as Mr. Ed. He volunteered as a driver for the Somerset County Mobile Food Bank, and then drove part-time for Collis Roofing when he retired to spend the rest of his years with his family in Florida. He loved his family, loved life, and lived it to the fullest. Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday April 4, 2024 at Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset, and from 10-11 a.m Friday April 5, 2024 at New Beginnings Outreach Center, Boswell, where a service will immediately follow at 11 a.m,. with Pastor Kurtis Frampton officiating.
