Fernando Garofalo, 101, of Somerset, died October 30, 2021 at Somerset Hospice House. Born August 14, 1920 in Nocera Inferiore, Salerno, Italy, he is the son of Alberto and Emilia (Stocchi) Garofalo. Preceded in death by his parents, wife the former Antonietta Saito, son Alberto Garofalo, and sisters Flora Sidari, Dora Esposito, and Adriana Latuch. Survived by his daughters Emilia Garofalo of Somerset, Maria Steele and husband David of Carolina Shores, NC, daughter-in-law Kellie Garofalo of Somerset, also 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Fernando was a veteran of the Italian Navy of WWII where he was a POW, he worked as a chief educator for juvenile detention homes for the Italian Government, and was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset, where a service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday with Father Angelo Patty Celebrant.
