Germaine Ankeny, 89, of Somerset, died June 17, 2021 at Meadow View Nursing Center, Berlin. Born May 8, 1932 in Somerset, she is the daughter of James Samuel and Verdamae (Kimmel) Heist. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold Wayne Ankeny who died June 3, 2021, brothers; James and William Heist. Survived by her children; David W. Ankeny and wife Pat of Somerset, and Linda K. Kruth and husband Larry of Grand Ledge, Mich. grandchildren; Heidi M. George, Sean T. Ankeny, Kelly Ann Falbow, Michelle Bickel, Adam J. Kidd, James and Adam Kruth, and 18 great-grandchildren. Germaine was a graduate of Somerset High School, earlier in life she worked for the US Army Signal Corps. in Philadelphia, later for the Selective Service Board, and ended up retiring as the administrative assistant for the superintendent for Somerset High School. She was a lifelong member of Casebeer Lutheran Church where she was very involved in various church activities, she was also a member of OES 138 where she was a past Worthy Matron, and she enjoyed playing cards with her card club friends. A service will be announced for a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Casebeer Lutheran Church 10377 Somerset Pike, Somerset, PA 15501. So sorry for your losses of your parents. My mother passed on their 69th anniversary at age 88(so  that is something in common). Although I never met Gemaine, Linda, I've known you and the example you've lived in high school and what you share on FB, so I know your parents were wonderful people.
