Gerald "Jerry" Eugene Baumgardner, 77, of Somerset, died April 21, 2025 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Born June 30, 1947 in Somerset, he is the son of George Jennings and Hazel Gertrude (Johnson) Baumgardner. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers George, Dale, and Charles Baumgardner, and infant twin sisters Jean and Jane. Survived by his wife the former Janice Elaine Brant to whom he was married 55 years, daughters Kimberly Shumaker and husband Douglas of Somerset, Rebecca Frazier and husband Travis of Ludowici, GA, and Cari Baumgardner and partner Juan Cano of Pembroke Pines, FL, grandchildren Gabrielle, Kylee, Cheyenne, Mary Anne, and Reygan, great-granddaughters River and Meadow, and sisters Shirley Claar and husband William of Holidaysburg, and Charlotte Aungst and husband Stephen of Duncansville. Jerry was a 1967 graduate of Somerset High School, he worked until his retirement as a machinist for Rockwood Manufacturing. He was a life member of VFW Post 554, and was co-founder of Vietnam Veterans of America Post 587. He had a joy of life, and enjoyed his family and friends, he loved the outdoors, watching WWE Wrestling and the Steelers. Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset, a celebration of life will occur at a later date.
