Grace Isabelle Svonavec

Grace Isabelle Svonavec, 96, of Rockwood, died May 9, 2026 at The Patriot. Born July 29, 1929 in Berlin, she is the daughter of Henry H. and Lulu Belle (Landis) Shockey. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Joseph John Svonavec Sr. and siblings Betty Lou Shockey, Jean Gindlesperger, Sarah Cheminant, Lilian Yoder and Henry Shockey. Survived by sons: Joseph Svonavec Jr. and wife Rosemary, David Svonavec and wife Elizabeth Louise "Betty Lou" all of Rockwood, Anthony Svonavec and wife Diana of Somerset, Michael Svonavec of the Villages, FL, James Svonavec and wife Lynn of Harrisonburg, VA, John Svonavec and wife Cindy of Somerset, Patrick Svonavec and wife Joy of Hidden Valley, and Vincent Svonavec of Rockwood, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Grace was a 1947 graduate of Berlin-Brothersvalley High School. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, where she had held the offices of Regent, Vice Regent, and District Director, and was also very involved with 4H and was a past 4H leader. The family would like to thank the staff at The Patriot for their care of Grace. Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset. A funeral mass will be conducted at 9 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Somerset with Father Angelo Patti Celebrant. Committal Listie Catholic Cemetery.
