James William Emert, 74, of Somerset, died February 4, 2019 at his home. Born September 8, 1944 in Somerset, he is the son of Howard William and Lottie Grace (Slickerman) Emert. Preceded in death by his parents, sister Judith Ann Emert and brother Billy Lee Emert. Survived by his wife the former Mary Amelia Bumbarger to whom he was married 52 years, sons: James W. Emert Jr. and wife Tabatha of Elizabethtown, and Joel H. Emert of Stoystown, grandchildren: Constance, Chloe, and Crichton, and sister Linda Sue Emert of Somerset, also foster children: Samantha Mishler, and Etta and Missy Gehman. Jim was a 1963 graduate of Somerset High School, he worked as Lincoln Township Supervisor for 22 years. He was one of the first members in 1970 of the Appalachian Wagon Train, and was a member of Somerset's National Day of Prayer Committee, he was a lifelong member of Beulah United Methodist Church where he served many years as a trustee, helped with maintenance and maintained the Beulah Cemetery. Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 Wednesday at the Beulah United Methodist Church, Friedens, and 10-11 a.m Thursday at the church where a service will immediately follow at 11 a.m. with Reverend Thomas Brown officiating.
