James Farkosh Obituary

James Richard Farkosh, 85, of Somerset, went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 30, 2022 at Meadow Viewing Nursing Center, Berlin. He was born October 11, 1936 in Acme, son of the late Lewis and Agnes (Kantorik) Farkosh. Preceded in death by his parents, and infant brother Harold Edward Farkosh. Survived by his wife Joyce (Romesberg) Dumbauld-Farkosh, sister JoAnn (Richard) Wilson of Murrells Inlet, SC, niece Ann Wilson and nephew David (Lauren) Wilson, sons: Andrew (Amy) Farkosh of Stahlstown, and Randall (Sherry) Farkosh of Ripley, WV, stepson Richard (Michael) Dumbauld, of Markleton, grandchildren; Kristin (Justin) Kinneer, Nicole (Zachary) Kinneer, Matthew Farkosh, and Holly Farkosh, step granchildren; Nichole (Tal), Natasha (Femaj), and Masey (Bobby), great-grandchildren; Lucas, Kendra, and Khloe. Jim was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, and received a BS degree from St. Vincent College in Latrobe. He served 27 months in the US Army as a Psychiatric Social Worker Technician. He was employed as a caseworker for the DPW in Greensburg, and Pittsburgh, and as a social worker at the Somerset State Hospital with 35 years of service overall. When Jim was not working, he was helping others as volunteer EMT, and firefighter. He served as fire chief for 9 years at the Chestnut Ridge Fire Dept. in Stahlstown, and 25 years as Forest Fire Warden. After retirement he joined the Bakersville Volunteer Fire Dept. and volunteered at the Mary S. Biesecker Library. He was also employed as a security guard at Pioneer Park on the weekends. He thoroughly enjoyed greeting the campers, and their children and pets. He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Rockwood, where he attended, Bible Study, and church events. He was a gentle Christian man with a good sense of humor. He enjoyed traveling, photography, and was an avid reader. He always had time to listen to other peoples problems, and will be sorely missed. Per his request services will be private with Reverend Lee Gable officiating. Interment Somerset County Memorial Park.
