James Floyd Helmick, 63, of Friedens died July 14, 2023 at his home. Born August 25, 1959 in Meyersdale, he is the son of Murl R. and Vera Mae (Hutzell) Helmick. Preceded in death by his parents, sister Ruth Hare, and an infant brother. Survived by his wife the former Karen Elaine Hill to whom he was married 35 years, daughters: Emily Bent and fiance Dwayne Stiffey of Somerset, Elizabeth Helmick and partner Grant Baldwin of Harrisburg, Kristi Pessolano and husband John of Pittsburgh, and Megan Stevanus and husband Isaac of Friedens, grandson Jayden "The Boy" Stiffey, and brother Scott Helmick and partner Karen Miller of Somerset, and special nephew Aaron Hill of York. James was a 1977 graduate of Berlin Brothersvalley High School, he worked construction for Joseph A. Miller Contracting, and was a member of the Stoystown Sons of American Legion. No viewing or visitation, a private service will be conducted at the convenience of the family. Interment Wills Cemetery.
