James Gilmour Knepper Sr., 97, of Somerset, died February 13, 2022 at his home. Born April 6, 1924 in Somerset, he is the son of John Milton and Ethel Alma (Gilmour) Knepper. Preceded in death by his parents, and wife of 67 years, the former Nancy Louise Schrock who died November 11, 2013, and an infant daughter Karen. Survived by his children: Kathryn Mitchell and husband Chuck, James G. Knepper Jr. married to the former Lorie Bruno, grandchildren: Rebecca Hersh, Chuck Mitchell and wife Cathy, Michael Mitchell and wife Madalyn, Alexandra and Erin Knepper, 4 great-grandchildren, and sister Tomalie Holt. Jim was as 1942 graduate of Somerset High School, a US Army Veteran of WWII where he was stationed in France, he founded Knepper Insurance in 1954, and was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and Somerset Volunteer Fire Department, he was a member of FOE Lodge 358 F& AM, and was a Shriner at the Jaffa Mosque, he was also a past member of the Somerset Rotary Club, and a director emeritus of Somerset Trust Company. He and his wife Nancy loved to travel and traveled the world extensively. He belonged to many insurance and travel associations. He loved to fly and held a private pilots license, was an avid golfer, enjoyed wintering in Florida, and love his Wednesday lunches with his buddies up until his final week, he also loved being surrounded by his family as often as possible. Friends received 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Somerset, where a service will immediately follow at 11 a.m. with Reverend Ruth Jensen officiating.
