Jessica Christianna Kister

Jessica Christianna Kister (née Onstead), 28, took her mortal leave of this Earth on May 6, 2021. She has traded her cross for a crown and has taken her rest in the eternal Kingdom of Heaven with her friend, Jesus. Our beloved Jessica was born on January 28, 1993 in Sharon, Pennsylvania. She was born to her loving parents Stephen and Fritz (née Cavvathas) Onstead. She was raised and lived in Somerset, Pennsylvania -a place she cared for and loved so deeply. She is a 2011 graduate of Somerset Area High School, where she ultimately fell in love with her husband, Kyle William. She is a 2015 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, proudly obtaining a B.A. in Business-Economics. Thereafter, she worked for Somerset Trust Company, an organization she was ardently proud to represent, and worked selflessly and diligently to better our community. She is known to many as the 2015 Pennsylvania Honey Queen, and had a keen interest in bee keeping. She brought our beautiful daughter, Penelope Christianna, 1, into the world and was thoroughly and completely devoted to her. Tragically she was stricken with the diagnosis of glioblastoma in June 2020, which forever altered her life. Despite this, Jessica had a radiant glow and a deep love for life. She was well-known for her ability to plan the best parties and events, for her ability to see a job through, and, most of all, to simply have fun. Her confidence was most striking, admirable, and unrivaled. Please, dear readers, let the memory of Jessica's beautiful spirit live on in your lives so that the world will be ceaselessly reminded of her. And, as we mourn, Jessica would doubtlessly remind us to "let a smile be your umbrella," because she now resides in a mansion of glory and we will see her again when our work here is finished. Jessica is preceded in death by brother Stephen Michael. She is survived by husband and best friend, Kyle William; daughter, Penelope Christianna; her parents Stephen and Fritz Onstead; brother, Madison; uncle, J.R. Onstead; paternal grandparents, Jim and Martha Onstead; step-mother, Shari Onstead; best friends, Melissa Younkin and Erin Kern. The family wishes for all that knew Jessica to come and share your beautiful memories with us on May 13 at 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset. a service will be conducted on May 14 at 10 a.m. at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Friedens. Committal to Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Kister Family Medical Fund at Somerset Trust Company so the family can donate to the University of Pittsburgh's Brain Tumor Immunogenetics Laboratory at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center.
