Joan Marlene Wheeler Obituary

Joan Marlene Wheeler, 91, passed away peacefully at home on April 21, 2025, surrounded by her family.



The daughter of Paul James and Edna (McVicker) Miller, Joan was a graduate of Rockwood High School. She co-owned Wheeler Brothers, Inc. alongside her beloved husband, Harold W. Wheeler, Jr. Together, they built not only a successful business, but also a legacy of giving—supporting many philanthropic efforts throughout Somerset County, including the Children's Aid Home, In Touch Hospice, and Somerset Hospital.



A spirited and fiercely independent woman, Joan was known for her larger-than-life personality, incredible cooking, and her unapologetic love of butter. She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church.



Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold W. Wheeler, Jr.; sister, Sally Locklin; brother, Edward Miller; grandson, Harold W. "Petey" Wheeler IV; and great-granddaughter, Nora Grace Kaufman.



She is survived by her children David L. Wheeler (Jennifer), Harold W. "Pete" Wheeler III (Leigh Anne), Barbara W. Davies (Randy), and Paul J. Wheeler (Stacy), sister-in-law Jeanne Joanne (Young) Miller, and cherished dog, Annie.



She also leaves behind a cherished legacy in her grandchildren Chad Wheeler, Christopher Wheeler (Kami), Allison Schlaegle (Casey), Jonathan Davies, Jessica Simonette (Jason), Jacob Wheeler (Molly), Colby Kaufman (Jordan), Eric Wheeler (Nicole), Ashley Wheeler, Christian Wheeler, Taylor Wheeler, Ashleigh Romano (Marco), Courtney Markel, Dan Siegel, and Megan Suter—as well as many great-grandchildren. No viewing or visitation a private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment Somerset County Memorial Park.
