John Berkey Obituary

John Charles Berkey, 70, of Somerset, died November 22, 2019 at Select Specialty Hospital, Johnstown. Born October 17, 1949 in Somerset, he is the son of the late Charles and Pauline (Sayler) Berkey. Survived by sisters; Barbara Trent and husband Robert of Friedens, Gretchen Baraniak and husband Tom of Somerset, and Rebecca Berkey Ludlow of Steamboat Springs, CO, brothers; Samuel Berkey and wife Karen of Somerset, and George Berkey and wife Marilyn of Corning, NY, and numerous nieces and nephews. John was a graduate of Somerset High Area High School, and California State University, California, PA. He worked as an Industrial Arts Teacher for the Somerset Area School District until his retirement. He especially enjoyed hunting and woodworking, and made many beautiful pieces of furniture, kitchens and home decor. No viewing or visitation a private service will be held at the convenience of the family with Pastors John and Linda Stoner officiating.
