John Harold Shaulis, 80, of Berlin, died February 19, 2025 at Meadow View Nursing Center, Berlin. Born June 18, 1944 in Somerset, he is the son of Lester and Mae (Baker) Shaulis. Preceded in death by his parents, first wife the former Elsie Jane Dwire, second wife the former Sara "Sally" Louise Yaple, sisters Lois Saylor and Audrey Thomas, brother Kenneth Shaulis and an infant brother Jimmy. Survived by his wife the former Rita L. Long, daughters Angela Otto and husband Michael, and Jennifer Shaulis, grandchildren Ella and Evan Otto, brothers and sister Elwood "Woody" Shaulis and wife Jan, Mary Jane McGregor, Donald Shaulis and wife Lori, half-sister Gail Clark and husband Stanley, half-brother Timothy, step-sister Esther Kendig, and was a foster parent for many children in Somerset County over the years. John was a US Army Veteran of Vietnam, he worked many jobs including as a farmer, coal miner, and maintenance for the Children's Aid Home. He was a member of Berlin Brethren Church, a lifetime member of VFW, and Laurel Hill Sportsmen's Club. No viewing or visitation. A private service will be conducted at the convenience of the family.
