Lonnie Watson Obituary

Lonnie Glen Watson, 86, of Somerset, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on January 20, 2022. Son of the late Lonnie Glen and Madeline V. (Rush) Watson, Lonnie was born August 10, 1935 in Morgantown, WV. After attending Morgantown, WV High School, Lonnie served as Sergeant of the 2nd Marine Air Wing of the U.S. Marine Corp. from 1953-1955. He was owner of several news agencies in the Pittsburgh area and was also a business owner in Somerset County. He attended Somerset Alliance Church. First and foremost, Lonnie greatly enjoyed and loved his family! Not only was he a member of many local clubs, he was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer and competitive shooter. Lonnie rode and competed in the American Quarter Horse Congress loving horseback riding. His dogs, Sasha and Button, provided much companionship. Lonnie is survived by his beloved wife Patricia (Ringer); they shared 35 years of the joys and trials of life as well as the following surviving family: son, John (Shelly) Watson of Mars, PA, and daughter, Laura (Eric) King of Rockwood, PA, grandchildren: Gunnar, Ruby, and Bruce L. Watson of Mars, PA, Derek (Nikki) King of Somerset, Kimberly (Brad) Glessner of Manns Choice, and Amanda King of Wellersburg, great-grandchildren: Elijah and Myla Glessner, and Easton King, mother-in-law Patsy Ringer of Somerset, John's mother, Marilyn Watson of Mars, PA, brother-in-law Dick (Charlene) Ringer of Rockwood; also survived by niece Michelle (William) Neiderhiser children, Nathan and Merril, niece Carla (Daniel) Harrold children, Kayla, Joshua, Julia, and Briella, and niece Alicia (Michael) Miller, nephew Quincy (Kim) Hochard children Madelyn and Jack. Preceding Lonnie are his son, Bruce H. Watson who was of Pittsburgh, a grandson, Billy Ogline who was of Rockwood, and father-in-law Carl Ringer who was of Rockwood. A special heartfelt thanks to Interim Healthcare, Dr. Brennan, and Pastor Don for their loving care. Friends received 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset, and from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the Somerset Alliance Church, Somerset, where a service will follow at 11 a.m. with Reverend Dr. Scott Ream officiating.
