Mae Jean Kimmel Obituary

Mae Jean Kimmel, 93, of Somerset died June 30, 2023 at her home,and joined her husband Ray, family and friends in God's house on June 30, 2023. Born May 26, 1930 in Somerset she is the daughter of John A. and Mabel M. (Ogline) Boyer. Preceded in death by her parents, and husband Ray Edward Kimmel who died December 7, 2005. Survived by her daughters: Cynthia (Lynn) Harward of Pfafftown, NC, Sharon (Harold) Ashcraft of Johnstown, Cheryl (Craig) Schrock of Somerset, exchange children: Peter Schwaller of Kentruck, Tuija of Finland, Hanna of Sweden, and Tona of Norway, grandchildren: Kevin (Keri) Harward, Amy (Brent) Levins, Cara (Julian) Breyer, Lauren, (Paul) Warren, Jessica (Adam) Heflin, Drew (Deanna) Schrock, Sarah Schrock and fiance Alex Minnick, and Luke and Matthew Schwaller, great-grandchildren: Tyler Harward, Justin Guithre,, Madilynn Levins, Isabelle and Audrey Breyer, Bowie Warren, Joseph and Mila Heflin, and 3 future great-grandsons. Mae Jean was a member of Sipesville Church of the Brethren, and was a 1948 graduate of Somerset High School. A cosmetologist by trade she and her husband owned and operated Vacation Trailer Sales. She was a leader of Friedens Girl Scouts Troop 308, field representative of Youth for Understanding exchange program, and proud Tam O'Shanter mother. Mae Jean was also a member of Sugar Bush Antique Car Club, where she and Ray enjoyed countless hours traveling to parades and having picnics with friends. Her door was always open to family and friends, and they always left with full stomachs and good memories. A loving mother, wonderful grandmother, and proud great-grandmother, her talents will be missed by all who knew her. The family wishes to thank her caregiver Alice Geary for the love and compassion she gave our mother over the years. No viewing or visitation a graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Husband Cemetery with Reverend Cecel Lohr officiating. Interment Husband Cemetery.
