Martin John Kammerer, 86, of Somerset, went home to our Lord on Friday, March 22nd while in Lake Placid Florida. He was born in Elk Point, South Dakota to the late John and Mabel (Poffenberger) Kammerer. Marty is survived by his wife of 16 years, Constance "Connie" (Weber) Kammerer, his daughter Debbi Prosser (Bob) of Altoona, his son Dr. Chad Kammerer of Pittsburgh, his step-daughter Sarah Pletcher (Russ) of Rockwood, his step-son Matthew Schwarm (Sharon) of Stoystown, Known as Pap Pap to five surviving grandchildren Sarah Wawrzaszek (Ryan) of Michigan, Rhett and Jack Pletcher of Rockwood, Bow and Bella Schwarm of Stoystown, and one great grandchild, Lucy Wawrzaszek and her new sibling arriving in the fall. He is also survived by his sister Jonna Ryan (Larry), of Mt. Pleasant. He was preceded in death by Irene (Soforic) Kammerer, his wife of 32 years, his parents and his brothers John Joseph "Joe" and James Kammerer. He served in the Navy from 1955 to 1958 then graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Business Management and continued his education at William and Mary College and the University of Pittsburgh. He spent twenty years as the Area Manager for Columba Gas and then went on to spend twenty years as the Senior Vice-President for Mid Continent Insurance where is he retired from in 1999. An avid golfer, he was a long-time member of Somerset Country Club and became a serious corn hole competitor later in life. Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life at a memorial mass 10 a.m. on Monday May 13th at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Somerset with Father Angelo Patti Celebrant. Interment Husband Cemetery. Military Graveside Rites accorded by the Somerset County Honor Guard.
