Mary Kathryn (Schmucker) Shaulis

Mary Kathryn Shaulis, 91, of Sipesville, died peacefully at her home on October 11, 2019. Born March 5, 1928 in Sipesville, she is the daughter of Dorsey Earl and Martha Blanche (Alexander) Schmucker. Preceded in death by her parents, husband William J.B. Shaulis who died February 1, 1993, brother Gene Schmucker, and sisters: E. Lucille Shaver, Sara E. Fritz and M. June Griffith. Survived by her daughters: Tracy Jo Croyle and husband Gregory and Trudy J. Saylor and husband Michael all of Sipesville, and granddaughters: Ashley Jo Croyle, and Brittany Nicole Saylor and Emily Noelle Saylor all of Sipesville. Mary was a 1945 graduate of Somerset High School, and a graduate of West Penn School of Nursing. She worked for the Somerset Hospital, Somerset State Hospital and later in life as the nursing supervisor for Siemon's Lakeview Manor Estate where she retired in 1994. Mary was a lifelong member of the Sipesville Church of the Brethren, and a two time cancer survivor, she stayed active with many activities including, Red Hats, 55+ Speeders, and Farm Women. She held many roles of wife, mother, neighbor, and friend, and most importantly as Nana for her granddaughters. With her love of people Mary always enjoyed Bingo, card games and especially her coffee drinkers that was served at her home three times a week. This special lady was a blessing to all that knew her, may she find peace in her eternal home above. Friends received 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Sipesville Church of the Brethren, Sipesville and one hour prior to the service which will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday with Reverend Cecil Lohr officiating.
