Max Paul Angermeier, 85, of Somerset passed away at Somerset Senior Living (formerly The Heritage) on August 19, 2023. Max was born August 17, 1938 to Max Albert and Katherine (Moser) Angermeier in Altoona, PA. He is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife of 61 years Barbara (Frye) in 2021. Max is survived by his sons Alan and wife Amy of Somerset, Michael and wife Holly of Wilmington, NC and his daughter Julie Schrock and husband Bill of Chapel Hill, NC. Also grandchildren: Amanda Krnjaich, Adam Angermeier, Kelsey Mathis, Austin Angermeier, Max Schrock and Allie Schrock; as well as, 5 great-grandchildren: Sawyer and Tucker Angermeier, Noah and Luke Krnjaich, Scarlett Schrock, and another on the way in November. Also surviving are siblings: Kathleen Smith of Huntingdon, Joseph Angermeier of Georgia, and Rick Angermeier of Altoona, and brother-in-law Melvin Frye of Altoona. Max and Barbara were 1957 graduates of Altoona High School, and were married July 31, 1959. They lived as newlyweds in the Cleveland, OH area and is where they started their young family. They moved to Somerset in 1969 when Max accepted the position as shop foreman at the former Koval Tool & Die. Max and Barbara eventually became owners of the shop in 1992 when it was renamed Angermeier Tool & Die. They continued the business and working together through 2010. Max enjoyed playing golf and was a longtime member of the Monday Nigh Industrial Golf League. He was also a member of the Laurel Ridge Sportsmen's. He enjoyed attending his grandkid's sporting events, and was a loyal Cleveland Browns fan. He also loved old cars and his dachshund, Gizmo. Max was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Churhc. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, and will be sorely missed. The family would like to thank the caring staff and nurses of both The Heritage and UPMC Family Hospice for their compassionate support. Friends received 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Somerset, with Father Angelo Patti Celebrant. Committal Somerset County Memorial Park.
