Nellie Gladys Over

Nellie Gladys Over, 103, of Somerset, died June 21, 2022 at Siemon's Heritage Personal Care Center, Somerset. Born December 13, 1918 at her home in Altoona, she is the daughter of Harry Franklin and Nellie (Garlick) Burger. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Edgard "Edward Fulton Over, son Robert Over, and her siblings of which she was the oldest, Viola Lomakin of Pittsburgh, Dorothy Morrow of New York, Harry of Harrisburg, Elwood of Miami, and Edward of St. Louis. Nelle graduated from Altoona High School in 1937, and later was a waitress at the Bedford Springs Hotel. There she met Edward Over at a dance and they married on May 17, 1938. They where married for 29 years when Edward died in 1967. They had two sons, John born in 1940 and Robert born in 1942 and died at 9 weeks old. John a research scientist at Bayer (retired) was married to recently deceased Valerie, a science teacher at Chartiers Valley School District. They were married 53 years. After Edward's death, Nellie worked in the credit department at the Bedford Sears Roebuck for ten years until the catalog office closed. In 1970 she moved to Somerset to become a receptionist for the law firm of Kimmel and Rascona. In 1984 she was hired as a receptionist at Kettler Forlines Resort Homes at Seven Springs. She retired at the age of 86 after working for the resort for 23 years. She was a life member of the Somerset Garden Club which she joined in 1975, and served as president from 1982 thru 1983. She was a member of Christ Casebeer Lutheran Church. Friends received 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset, where a service will immediately follow at 4 p.m with Vicar Allen Stump officiating.
