Nina Kathryn Blystone, 56, of Rockwood, better known as Kathy, was born 1-pound, 13-ounces on April 14, 1965 in Oakland, MD, she met her Lord and Savior face to face at heaven's gates November 7, 2021. Also greeting her were her grandparents Lewis and Nina (Butler) Close, parents, Ralph and Martha (Close) Metheney, her brother, Joseph Gower, grandson Gracyn Blakely, nephews Roger Most, Jr., Ricky Most, Victor Ulderich, Jr., Randy Metheney, niece Robin (Most) Mahler, and son-in-law, Keith Gottschalk, Jr. She was also enthusiastically welcomed by beloved pets Dixie, Tia, Zoe, and Rosie whom she dearly missed. Left behind to meet her later are her husband of 39 years, Harry Blystone of Rockwood. Daughter, Renee (Blystone) Blakely and husband Jonathan of Rockwood. Son, Steven and wife Laycen (Cline) Blystone, Rockwood. Daughter, Holly (Blystone) Benning and Tanner Davidson, Somerset. Son-in-law, Clarence Benning of Glencoe. Grandchildren Hunter Sanner, Ryder Blakely, Blake Gottschalk, Makenzie Gottschalk, Ella Blakely, Ayden Cline, Jonas Blystone, Elijah Benning, Parker Blystone, Noah Benning, and Isaac Benning. She is also survived by siblings Tom Gower, Larry Gower, Chris Metheney, John Metheney, Sheila Ulderich, Ray Metheney, and Charles (Chuck) Metheney. Kathy was a 1983 graduate of Rockwood High School, a member of the New Centerville Church of God where she formerly taught the Church of God Youth Advance Group for teens. She was an avid animal lover and always kept multiple pets, like Lucy her beloved German Shepard. Before her health declined, she enjoyed riding motorcycle, hiking, and playing board games, especially Pokeno and Yahtzee, she loved gardening, reading, bird watching, coloring, and helping people. She was a beloved friend to many and will be deeply missed. She will be remembered for her strength, resilience, generosity, kindness, and love. Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset, and from 10-11 a.m. Friday at the New Centerville Church of God, Rockwood, where a service will immediately follow at 11 a.m. with Reverend Timothy Show officiating.
