Paul Hutzell Obituary

Paul Eugene Hutzell, 78, of Somerset, died February 26, 2022 at UPMC Somerset Hospital. Born January 9, 1944 in Meyersdale, he is the son of Christopher and Viola (Butler) Hutzell. Preceded in death by his parents, brother Roy Blaine "Shorty" Hutzell, and sisters; Fern Baer and Naomi Donaldson. Survived by his loving wife the former Sharon Ann Mesnak to whom he cherished and was married 25+ years, step children: Lisa Miller and companion Kevin Grace of Johnstown, Rodney Hunsinger and wife Heather of Mechanicsburg, and Jeffrey Hunsinger and companion Leslie Speakman of Stoystown, grandchildren: Isabella, Hunter, Camryn, and Brandon. Paul was a 1961 graduate of Somerset High School, a US Army Veteran of Vietnam where he was a Sgt in the 2nd Armored Division, he worked until his retirement in 2006 in risk management for Erie Insurance. He was a member of Lodge 358 F&AM where he held his 32nd degree, FOE Lodge 1801, St. Francis in the Field's Episcopal Church, and was a past Lion's Club member in North Carolina where he was past president, as well as the club in Somerset. Paul enjoyed making memories with his loving family, going to the beach, the casino, playing bingo, and he volunteered along with his wife for various events. Friends received 3-6 p.m. Wednesday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset, a service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis in the Field's Episcopal Church, Somerset, with Father William Carpenter officiating. Interment Somerset County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Mask's are recommended for the visitation and service.
