Paul Donald Welsh Sr

Paul Donald Welsh Sr., 90, of Friedens, PA, died June 7, 2020 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born May 19, 1930 in Somerset, he is the son of Ralph Calvin and Nellie Elizabeth (Dunlap) Welsh Sr. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Charles J. Ralph Jr. and James Welsh and an infant brother Jay, sisters: Mary Jane Mayak and Betty L. Buljat. Survived by his wife the former Shirley Mae Spangler to whom he was married 62 years, children: Sandra Hay and husband Jay Jr. of Mt. Joy, Paul D. Welsh Jr. and wife Patricia of Somerset, and Scott Welsh and wife Kimberly of Waynesboro, grandchildren: Jessica Hayes and husband Morris, Joshua Hay and wife Ashleigh, Kristie Paxton and husband Matthew, Paul Welsh III, Bobbi Jo, Neil and Ashley Welsh, Cheyanne and Shane Baylor, and Michelle Pniewski, 17 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson and sister Joan Cyga of Johnstown, and brother Tedd A. Welsh of Somerset. Paul was a 1950 graduate of Somerset High School, and went to college for 2 years in Roanoke, VA, he was a US Army Korean War Veteran, he worked for Wheeler Brother's where he was a bookkeeper and was in charge of inventory. Paul was a member of Pleasant Hill UMC Church, VFW in Somerset, and Laurel Ridge Sportsman's, he loved painting, going to yard sales, collecting clocks, seashells and sharks teeth, and loved grandening and spending time with his grandkids.. Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset, and from 10-11 a.m. Friday at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, Friedens, where a service will immediately follow at:at 11 a.m. with Reverends Richard Helsel and Joseph Beer officiating.
