Penelope Cykowski "Penny" Greene, 82, of Somerset, died February 22, 2026 at The Patriot. Born August 28, 1943 in Cleveland, OH, she is the daughter of Clement Jon and Florence Deloris (Wisniewski) Cykowski. Preceded in death by her parents and brother Clement Cycowski. Penny was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose greatest joy and priority was the well-being of her loved ones. She is survived by her husband David Lockwood Greene to whom she shared a 60-year marriage and together they built a life centered in faith and family. She was the proud mother to her four sons and she warmly welcomed their wives as daughters, Andrew Greene and wife Susan, Colin Greene and wife Marilyn, Alexander Greene and wife Christa, and Stuart Greene and wife Heidi. Her ten grandchildren were a constant source of pride and joy. She is also survived by her brother Mark Cykowski. She managed the household and all family affairs with dedication and care. Though she spent years working outside the home, she always said her true job was a "homemaker," and she meant it, pouring herself into the role. Penny had a special gift for helping children fall in love with reading. Her love of children's books grew during her time at the Pinocchio Book Store in Shadyside (Pittsburgh) and continued to by cultivated through her involvement with Children's Literature New England, where she connected with authors and librarians from around the world to stay current with the best books for young readers. She devoted that knowledge wholeheartedly to her years as the librarian at St Peter's Parish School, reading aloud to her students, learning what each child enjoyed, and carefully recommending just the right book. She also shared her love of reading to other schools throughout the Somerset area. Penny loved games, especially bridge, Scrabble and solitaire, and her favorite sport was tennis. She was a consummate correspondent and always sent holiday, birthday, or anniversary cards to friends and family. Penny was a faith member of St. Peter's Catholic Paris, displaying her strong Polish roots in the Church. Friends received 8-10 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Somerset where a funeral mass will immediately follow at 10 a.m. with Father Angelo Patti Celebrant. Committal Husband Cemetery.
